TADLEY CALLEVA ended their season on low and high notes with cup final defeat followed by a league-closing win on Saturday.

They went down 3-1 to Wessex League Premier Division Whitchurch United in Thursday’s North Hants Senior Cup final at Basingstoke Town, where Whitchurch took charge in the second period to claim the trophy.

Tadley had replied promptly to Jack McCarthy’s fifth minute opener when Scott Kinge nodded home after goalkeeper Brad Snelling could not hold Andrew Charsley’s free kick, and Tadley had chances before Whitchurch regained the lead before the interval when Scott Hassall headed home.

Tadley’s strike force was well clamped after the break, although it was not until the closing stages that substitute Dave Parry went through to seal the title.

Tadley went on to wrap up their Division One campaign in third place with a 5-0 win over bottom side East Cowes Vics at Barlows Park on Saturday.

James Tennant’s brace took him over 40 goals for the season with full debutant Connor Thorne, Scott Kinge and Sam Hamilton adding the other goals.
