Team GB call up for Newbury Athletic Club runner

Danny Hawkins has been selected to take part in the European Championships in September.

Newbury Athletic Club's ultra-running star Danny Hawkins has been selected for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the 2022 IAU 24-Hour European Championships in Verona, Italy on September 17-18.

Hawkins earns his call-up after his tremendous performance in Sittard, The Netherlands, earlier this year when he ran 257.24km – the second furthest distance in the men’s team.

It's the first GB call for Hawkins, who is coached by Wendy Whearity of Reading.
