Superb Stratford in Team Kennet triumph
Team Kennet Quadkids won on their return to action in the second round of the Oxfordshire Young Athletes League at Banbury on Sunday.
Team Kennet beat seven other teams to the triumph, finishing ahead of hosts Oxford in second and Bicester in third.
Both the under-nine boys and girls’ teams were first overall while the under-11 boys came third and the under-11 girls finished second.
In the under-nine girls event, Orlagh Stratford claimed second in the individual standings following an impressive 600m in 2.29 and a blistering 75m sprint in 12.9s.
Stratford’s sister, Alice, was third overall while there were also valuable contributions from Jasmine Hemmings and Evie Kearney.
Joshua Kuijten was top of the under-nine boys individual standings ahead of teammate Finn Fitzmaurice.
Euan Jones finished in the top 10 overall in the under-11 boys event while Ben Doherty was crowned champion in the vortex with a throw of 34.84m and Malik Gaye impressed in the 600m clocking a time of 2.00.2.
Matilda Clare was an impressive fourth in the under-11 girls rankings, closely followed by Penelope Lyth in seventh.
Clare was the club’s fastest 75m sprinter with a time of 12.1s while Lyth had Kennet’s longest leap following a 3.23m effort in the long jump.
Quinn Joyce starred in the 600m and there were impressive performances from Elora Murray and Gracie Cooke.
