Thatcham Town 0-4 Bracknell Town: Kingfishers endure tough night against league leaders
Thatcham Town suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat against Bracknell Town in the Isthmian League South Central at the Stacatruc Stadium on Tuesday evening.
It took the visitors just two minutes to open the scoring when Joe Grant jumped highest in the penalty area to head home from a corner.
Things went from bad to worse just six minutes later for Thatcham when George Knight fired his header past Chris Rackley.
The home side battled on and had a couple of very strong chances to find a way back into the game, both coming from Alex Miller.
The Kingfishers forward first fired a curling effort inches past the post, before then striking the crossbar after a long distance effort looped over Michael Eacott and looked to be going into the back of the net.
However, Thatcham were made to pay for their missed opportunities as Daniel Bayliss added a third for Bracknell a few moments before the break.
After a number of failed clearances from corners, the defender volleyed his effort past Rackley and into the back of the net.
After the break, Bracknell extended their advantage when Knight flicked his shot past the Thatcham keeper for his second of the night.
Despite controlling the majority of possession, Bracknell were unable to add to their advantage.
Thatcham will now look to bounce back when they travel to South Park on Saturday afternoon.
