Thatcham in 'confident mood' after win
After climbing off the bottom of the table, Thatcham are hoping for another good result against Amersham
THATCHAM go in to Saturday's home hame with Amersham in “confident mood”, according to skipper Danny Williams.
After beating Fleet by four wickets to clamber off the bottom of the Thames Valley League Division One table, Thatcham face a team that sit two places above them in the league and who themselves are in a good run of form, having beaten Beaconsfield by five wickets in their last outing.
But Williams is hopeful of a good game at Brownsfield against Amersham, who are unbeaten in their last three matches.
He said: “After that win at the weekend we are coming into this game with our tails up and hopefully we can pull out a good result again.”
Williams added that Thatcham's next three games against Amersham, Henley II and Beaconsfield should all be winnable for his side, although he acknowledged that Amersham would be a tough test.
“They have done pretty well in their last few games,” he said.
“They are certainly no mugs, but we are feeling confident and hopefully with it being at our place we can have a good game and get a result.”
Thatcham will make one change for the game, with Tom Mahoney replacing Matthew Denness for his first taste of first team action this season after impressing with the bat in the seconds in recent weeks.
