Thatcham seek a change in fortune

Thatcham entertain Kew at home tomorrow (Saturday) looking for a win after three successive defeats

THATCHAM skipper, Danny Williams, is looking for a change in fortunes for his side this week after suffering their third successive defeat on Saturday.

A 73-run defeat against Beaconsfield saw Thatcham remain in ninth place in the Thames Valley Cricket League Division One, 11 points behind Henley II and just eight above bottom side, Fleet.

And Williams is looking for a positive response from his players when they entertain Kew at Brownsfield tomorrow (Saturday) for their first home match in three weeks.

He said: “It will be nice to play at home.

“Hopefully that will help change our fortunes because something has to change.”

Williams said he was likely to stick with the same side for Saturday's game, adding that the game was “in the balance” against fifth-placed Kew.

He said: “One week they can be on top of their game and score 300, but the following week they can be bowled out for 80.

“It depends which side turns up for them and it will depend on who does the basics better.

“We are likely to keep the same side as I am backing the boys and hopefully they can go get a win for us.”

The match at Brownsfield starts at 1pm.
