Thatcham slip to third successive defeat




The West Berkshire side lost to Beaconsfield on Saturday and remain in ninth place in the league table

THATCHAM Town fell to their third successive defeat at Beaconsfield on Saturday.

The West Berkshire side travelled east to Buckinghamshire searching for a win to lift themselves above their opponents and out of the bottom two of the Thames Valley Cricket League Division One.

However, the side succumbed to its eighth defeat of the season, leaving Thatcham 11 points behind Henley II, who lost against Basingstoke and North Hampshire on Saturday.

After losing the toss, Thatcham fielded first, with Beaconsfield recording 226-5 from 52 overs.

And in reply, Thatcham were bowled out for just 153 in 46.5 overs.

Thatcham picked up just five points in defeat, compared to Beaconsfield's 25, and Thatcham now sit just eight points above bottom-of-the-table Fleet.

Thatcham are due to entertain fifth-placed Kew at Brownsfield on Saturday.
