Thatcham wiped out on wash-out day
Kew coast home at Brownsfield while all the rest sit it out in the rain
THATCHAM were left wishing that they had been washed out like the rest after surviving the downpours only to lose to Kew by 146 runs at Brownsfield.
The result sent Thatcham back into the bottom two in Division One of the Morrant Thames Valley League and hardly did them any favours. While the other clubs in the league were receiving seven points apiece for their cancelled matches, Thatcham collected only three after Kew had posted 207-6 in a game reduced to a maxiumum of 70 overs.
They used up 35 of those with Bruce Friderichs making an unbeaten 106 and Dave Lowe a half-century.
Thatcham's reply ended in the 27th over with only 61 on the board as Kidron Thomas snapped up 6-37.
That was the only legaue game to go ahead on Saturday as the Home Counties Premier, Thames Valley, Berkshire and Hampshire League programmes were wiped out.
