Six clean sheets in a row boosts Town's promotion charge

THATCHAM Town boss Dan Robinson warned his side not to get carried away after their Boxing Day demolition of Highmoor Ibis.
The 2-0 victory over their old rivals kept Town flying high in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
It was Thatcham’s sixth clean sheet in a row – in fact, since their defeat at Royal Wootton Bassett on November 14, Town have hit 15 goals without reply.
And that run of results sees them go into the New Year in third place, just two points behind leaders Flackwell Heath with two games in hand.
But Robinson is not getting carried away.
He said: “In the last three games we have picked up a maximum nine points against Highworth, Binfield and Highmoor, who are all in the top eight.
“Obviously we are all very pleased with that, but now the challenge is to keep the run going.
“We have already got more points this season then we did in the whole of last season, but at the moment, to use that old cliche, we are taking it a game at a time.
“But you never know, if we can keep our good run of results going, then we could be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.”
Robinson was particularly pleased with his side’s defensive qualities.
He said: “At the start of the season we were leaking silly goals through mistakes, but we have been working hard in training and have eradicated them.
“We know that we have goals in the team, so if we can keep a clean sheet then we have a great chance of winning the game.
“We have got plenty of experience in the team with Gareth Thomas, Mark James and Tom Melledew, and that will stand us in good stead.”
Robinson is determined to keep his players’ feet on the ground, though, and warned them against complacency for the visit of Lydney Town on Saturday (3pm).
The Gloucestershire side are lying 14th in the Premier Division, but Robinson is expecting a tough test.
Thatcham will be without the unavailable Tom Moran and Jordan Seaward, but welcome back John Bennett.
