HUNGERFORD have been denied the chance to secure their third place in the Evo Stik League Southern table after tonight's (Monday's) game with Paulton Rovers at Bupit Lane failed an afternoon pitch inspection.

Manager Bobby Wilkinson had earlier reckoned that the chances of of the game going ahead were "99.999 per cent against" and a 3.30pm inspection confirmed his fears.

Hungerford are now not back in action until the scheduled visit of promotion rivals Weymouth on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s 2-0 win at St Neots Town win came courtesy of first half goals from James Clark and Nat Jarvis, the former finishing well after in minutes and Jarvis taking of to head home midway through the half.

Otherwise, Hungerford were well on control as St Neots rarely threatened the visitors’ goal with Dipo Akinyemi’s 30 yard effort their only serious attempt of the first half and Diak John stepping in to rob Claudio Ofosu when he threatened briefly aftee the break.

Thatcham Town are also due in acion at Tuffley Rovers on Tuesday night but their scheduled home game on Sataurday was washed out.

Thatcham saw home action however, thrashing Milton United 5-0 in the Hellenic League’s Premier Division to maintain their top spot, Jon Bennett netting a hat-trick and Josh Helmore and Josh Baines netting the other goals.

Tadley Calleva’s home game with Romsey Town was called off on Saturday and they are due to make the trip to Pewsey Vale on Tuesday night.

Newbury went down 3-2 at Cookham Dean in the Thames Valley Premier League's top flight with Kye Franklin and Carl Jenner their scorers.
