Top five place for mountain biker

Banjo Cycles' Phillip Pearce is second fastest Briton in national round

CYCLING: Mountain bike Phillip Pearce was the second fastest British rider in the second round of the British Cycling MTB Cross-Country Series at Plymouth’s Newnham Park as the weekend.
In a powerful international field, he had a trouble-free ride in only his second national with elite status and earned a podium finish after being beaten only by British race winner Grant Ferguson.
He finished in 1 hour 26 minutes 22 seconds, almost a minute ahead of Team Zimmerman’s Emilien Barben while Pearce clocked 1:40 in finishing behind Belgian Jonas de Backer and Netherlands national team rider Milan Vader.
It continues a promising start for the Banjo Cycles rider in his first season since moving up from the expert class.
