Town assess new striker for debut spot

Tadley name teenage goalkeeper for Portsmouth cup trip

THATCHAM TOWN will give new striker Shane Cooper-Clark a fitness assessment before deciding if he can be handed his debut at Waterside Park on Saturday against Royal Wootton Bassett.

It is decided not to risk him, then the player could make his debut the following Saturday when Thatcham travel to take on Bracknell Town - the club Cooper-Clark left this week to join Town!

“He got a knock at Bracknell a couple of weeks ago, but he hasn’t been able to rest it because Bracknell needed him to keep playing,” co-manager Gareth Thomas.

“Our physio will assess it and there is a possibility he will play. But we’re going to make sure he’s 100 per cent before we throw him in.”

Tadley Calleva will give teenage goalkeeper Adam Smith his first team debut in Saturday’s Wessex League Cup tie at Premier Division Moneyfields in Portsmouth.

Manager Danny Dolan plans to shuffle his pack for the tie, ahead of a Tuesday night league game at Laverstock and Ford and the forthcoming FA Vase visit of Haywards Heath Town on November 21.

Tadley took their winning streak to seven games with Tuesday night’s 6-2 win over another Premier Division team in Alresford Town, the goals coming from James Tennant (2), James Milford, Scott Kinge, Andrew Charsley and Tolu Sotonye.
