Town miss out on top spot

Highmoor draw a fair outcome after fears of a flare-up

THATCHAM were denied top spot in the Hellenic League’s Premier Division when they had to settle for a Monday night point that left the level with Flackwell Heath, but trailing on goal difference, albeit with a game in hand.

Both goals came in a first half that ended with 22-man brawl following a clash between Thatcham’s Mark Hughes and Highmoor’s Justin Forde that saw both players booked.

Highmoor went ahead with a superb strike from Zac Tull in the opening 10 minutes but Thatcham pulled level five minutes from the break when Adam Morris scored from the spot following a foul on Callum Willmoth.

Both sides had their chances in a calmer second period before settling for a share of the spoils.
