Trophy blank means a replay

Hungerford must head for Banbury to earn right to progress

Hungerford Town 0 Banbury United 0

HUNGERFORD Must try again at the Spencer Stadium on Tuesday night after failing to dispatch lower league Banbury from the FA Trophy at the first attempt on Saturday.

A game of few clear-cut chances saw Charlie Wise head off the line form James Rusby in the opening period while Nat Jarvis and Stefan Brown had second half openings for the home side.

Louis Joyce had Banbury’s best chance 15 minutes from time but made a mess of his effort, and Paul Strudley had to save at the second attempt from Zac McEachran.

Richie Whittingham was not far off netting a late winner for Hungerford, who will now have to attempt to do it again in Banbury on Tuesday with a 7.45pm kick-off.
