Up the big hill and around the castle walls
Walbury and Highclere the venue for cyclists and runners
IT WILL be uphill and around the Castle grounds for cyclists and runners this Sunday.
Newbury Road Club will be staging its annual Walbury Hill Climb up to nature’s highest point in the south east of England, with a dash over of more than 2,000 yards to the summit.
The record of 3 minutes 55.19 seconds is held by former national hill climb champion Tejvan Pettinger, and the event is due off at 10.30am.
Further across the county, Newbury Athletic Club’s annual Highclere 10K race takes place in the castle grounds with well over 200 runners booked to take part.
The course covers tarmac track, field and a section of public road, and as well as competing for places, the runners will be raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The race also gets under way at 10.30am.
