Vase adventure continues for Tadley Calleva

Late winner at Littlehampton seals history-making place in today's second round draw

Littlehampton Town 1 Tadley Calleva 2

LITTLEHAMPTON’S Halloween Parade might have been a celebration for Tadley Calleva’s record-breaking run that takes them into Monday’s Second Round draw of the FA Vase for the first time.

Grant Powell’s 89th minute winner gave Tadley a win their football deserved and was a reward for the midfielder’s polished display.

But there was also a stunning show from goalkeeper Tom Hindmarsh, who gifted Littlehampton their equaliser after Scott Kinge’s opener for Tadley, but then proceeded to reel off a string of outstanding saves.

Prolific marksmen Dean Landais and player-boss Dean Gaskin were left frustrated as Hindmarsh denied them when they did break through.

Tadley started brightly and went ahead after nine minutes when Kinge was played in to score, but six minutes later, Hindmarsh made a hash of Mitchell Hand’s cross and Gaskin was given a simple tap-in.

Tadley had their chances while Hindmarsh kept time out at one end, and with extra time looming they got the winner when Kinge and James Tennant linked and Powell skipped into the box to beat goalkeeper Hendrick to take his side into further uncharted territory.
