Wash-out disappointments
Thatcham’s home game with Bagshot saw Chris Bird bag 5-24 as the visitors were dismissed for 153, although Thatcham were tottering at 116-6 in reply after 25 overs when play was halted.
Thatcham collected only seven points while Kidmore End and Yateley got 12 and 20 respectively to leave Thatcham stuck in third place in the Division Two B table of the Thames Valley League.
Newbury were left even more frustrated when their game with Teddington Town at Northcroft was curtailed with the hosts in a good position and Kevin Mills on a hat-trick.
Teddington are one of the teams just above Newbury's second to bottom placing in Division Three B, but they looked like swapping positions as Newbury recovered form 102-7 to post 193 all out.
Charlie Anstey (29) and Ed Uden (14) had started solidly before the slump, but Surya Sastry (70) and Tony Chester (28) shone in giving Newbury a decent target to defend.
And they were doing just that between the four stoppages for rain but after Mills had snapped up two in two to reduce the visitors to 102-6, play was promptly halted with 13 overs remaining.
Falkland II’s game with Harefield II ended sooner, Falkland having scored 184-9 with Stephen Pope’s 55 the top score before Harefield got to 93-1 in the 16th over.
