Wilkinson sets target of seven wins

Hungerford Town boss, Bobby Wilkinson, wants seven wins from ten games to seal a play-off place

HUNGERFORD Town manager Bobby Wilkinson has set a target of seven wins from 10 games to seal a place in the end of season Zamaretto League play-offs.

Tuesday night's 3-0 home win over Gosport Borough leaves Hungerford five points clear of the chasing pack, but says Wilkinson: "We're nowhere near the play-offs yet. We've got 10 games to play and it's going to be like playing 10 cup finals.

"And we have got to win at least seven of those."

Saturday sees Hungerford entertain Bridgwater Town, who lost 4-0 at Almondsbury on Wednesday night, and on Tuesday they are again at home when league leaders AFC Totton are at Bulpit Lane.

"That is a massive game for us," said Wilkinson. "They have to keep winning as well, while Bridgwater gave us some real problems down there and that will not be easy either."

Hungerford hope to have midfielder Luke Brewer back from a knee injury and utility player Chris Blackford is also fit again.

THATCHAM Town head north to Stourport for the first time on Saturday, brimming with confidence after cleaning four successive clean sheets that have helped to take them back into the top half of the table.

"It's record you don't get very often at this level," said manager Gary Ackling. "We've climbed the table and can target the teams above us now."

And on Tuesday Thatcham entertain bottom of the table strugglers Andover, who have only one win to their credit this season.

Goalkeeper and skipper Paul Strudley misses that game and Ackling is casting his eye over a potential newcomer to cover the gap.
