'Young Men' settle at Padworth

The club has signed a 30-year lease to play at the ground in Padworth Lane and have high hopes of rising up the football pyramid.
The team, nicknamed ‘The Young Men,’ have won their first five league games this season and director of football Mark Lemm, said: "We are very excited about moving to Padworth. We haven't had a proper home for a long time and we believe there is a huge amount of scope to develop Padworth into a really top class football and recreational facility.
“We are 116 years old this year but have been battling against the odds in recent years with the lack of a proper home a huge barrier to progressing a club.
“It is a central part of our club's development plan to introduce a youth section to complement the adult teams,” he added, “and we will be looking to recruit young players in the local area to learn the game under the guidance of our coaching team.
“There also seems to be a real lack of teams playing men's park football on Saturdays in the Newbury and Thatcham area and we are hoping to atttact new players to play for one of our three teams."
The Young Men start their tenure at Padworth on Saturday with the visit of near neighbours Mortimer for a 2pm kick-off.
