Newbury Junior Netball Club under 13 squad lift Berkshire Netball Junior League title
A squad of young netballers from Newbury have scooped the title for their age group in the Berkshire Netball Junior League in the first season back after Covid.
The Under 13 squad won nine and lost just one game all season.
Alison Stamp, the Under 13's coach, said she was “really proud of how hard the whole squad have worked this season; they are a great group of girls”.
“After a year without competitive netball it was a great return to the courts for all of our Newbury Junior Netball girls,” Mrs Stamp added. "All of the Newbury Junior teams played so well this season, against some really tough opposition who have been able to train far more than we have since the coronavirus pandemic started.
“We are now looking forward to some summer tournaments and already working with the girls towards the new season, which will start in September.
“Well done girls, you should all be really pleased with how well you have competed this season.”
The Under 11s finished fifth in division 1 in their first year of competing, while the Under 12 team finished sixth in their division and the Under 14s finished seventh.
Newbury’s Under 16 A team – which is made up entirely of under 15 girls - also put in a great performance, finishing fourth in Division 1, while the Under 16 B team finished seventh in Division 2.
