A series of bin fires at Newbury Retail Park are being treated as suspected arson.

Firefighters from Newbury were called to the retail park in Pinchington Lane at 3am and extinguished six fires burning in large bins near Mothercare, New Look and Matalan.

And, at around the same time, Newbury firefighters were also called to a burning bin in Foxglove Way, Thatcham.

Watch manager Richard Young said that police officers attended the fires at the retail park and were investigating whether they and the Thatcham fire were connected.

Also last night (Friday) Tadley firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on the A340 near Baughurst, thought to involve a car and a jeep.

It is believed that a man was cut out of one of the vehicles.

Police and ambulance crews attended.
