Storm strikes West Berkshire

The storm has come.

Thunder and lightning struck West Berkshire this evening leaving roads flooded, power cuts and buildings damaged (picture and main image by NewburyToday photographer Phil Cannings)

Lighting tore up the road in Gaywood Drive, Newbury.

Traffic lights on the Bear Lane roundabout went out as heavy rain poured and the skies darkened.

A West Berkshire Council meeting was plunged into darkness after a power cut but councillors carried on.
