London Road traffic light upgrade complete

Council says new traffic signals will improve traffic flow

THIS afternoon has seen the completion of West Berkshire Council's traffic light upgrade work on London Road.

The works, coupled with a lane closure further up the A4 at the Hambridge Road, have been causing significant rush hour delays since Friday (November 6).

The combined effect of the works meant that frustrated motorists faced long queues on the approach to the Robin Hood roundabout from all directions.

The upgrades at the junction with Faraday Road had been due to be finished at the weekend, however heavy rain on Saturday meant that the works were not finished until around 3pm today.

According to the council, the upgrades, which began in October, should help to improve traffic flow through the town by allowing the highways team to alter the lights according to local traffic flows.
