Police have issued a warning to the people of Kingsclere after a recent occurrence of fraud in the village.

On Thursday, September 21, residents of an address in the Swan Street area of Kingsclere received unwanted visitors selling their services, namely cleaning the patio by using a power washer.

The visitors entered the grounds of the property using the gate leading to the rear of the property as opposed the front door.

It was the quick thinking of a neighbour who had been looking out for the residents in question, which interrupted the exchange of a sum of cash.

Similar reports received previously have resulted in residents being given transport to the nearest ATM and encouraged to withdraw cash in order to pay for the work carried out. This is not the case on this occasion.
