Council slams HGV drivers illegally using Frouds Lane at Aldermaston
West Berkshire Council has received numerous reports of HGV vehicles illegally using Frouds Lane in Aldermaston.
A signed diversion route is currently in place for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) from Aldermaston Wharf Bridge, the A4/A340/The Green roundabout at Theale, the A340/B3051/Heath End Road roundabout at Tadley and the Youngs Industrial Estate Roundabout on Paices Hill.
But some lorry drivers still haven’t got the message.
Some drivers are choosing to ignore the signs and are flouting the weight restriction, said a council spokesperson.
The council’s public protection team said it will be doubling its efforts to enforce the weight restriction and will seek to prosecute any lorry drivers who are seen using Frouds Lane illegally – not delivering to premises in Frouds Lane.
The council urges people to make a report at https://www.westberks.gov.uk/reportaproblem if they spot any offending vehicles.
