Police confirm death in A4 London Road crash in Newbury




Police have confirmed that an elderly man died in a fatal car crash on the A4 in Newbury.

The incident occurred at around 11am on Wednesday, October 25 on the A4—also known as London Road—at its junction with Newport Road.

A white Vauxhall Insignia travelling eastbound collided with two pedestrians and a dog.

One of the pedestrians, an 81-year-old man, died as a result of the collision.

A woman in her seventies remains in hospital with serious injuries. The dog was injured in the collision but survived.

Thames Valley Police have appealed for any witnesses to the fatal car crash to come forward.

PC Ian Baldwin said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision, or may have been driving in the area and has dash-cam footage of the incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“The man’s next of kin have been notified and are being supported by officers.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
