Spaceship incoming: International Space Station visible over UK

THE International Space Station will pass over the UK with very bright passes at 10.53pm and again at half past midnight tonight, Thursday, May 21.

Friday's times are 10.05pm and 11.42pm. You may also spot HTV9, a cargo freighter launched from Japan yesterday and carrying the last set of six lithium-ion batteries to upgrade the International Space Station’s solar power truss.

Look out for it as it tracks the orbit of the ISS. It has some catching up to do, but is due to make contact with the ISS on May 25 - and may well be visible up until then following in the mother ship's tracks.

The ISS will come over from the south west and you will be able to see it with the naked eye.
