Hungerford Mayor to read the words of the Proclamation on Sunday
The public are invited to gather in Hungerford town centre to hear the words of the Official Proclamation read out.
Hungerford’s Mayor, Cllr Helen Simpson, will be bringing the words of the Proclamation to the residents of Hungerford from the steps of the Town Hall/ Corn Exchange, Hungerford at 4pm on Sunday, September 11.
Everyone is invited to this historic occasion which follows the ceremonies in St James's Park and the Royal Exchange in London on Saturday when Charles III officially became monarch.
Flags will be at half mast until 80am on the morning following the funeral except on Proclamation Day when they will be raised from 11am until 1pm the following day.
The Official Proclamation is also taking place in Newbury and Thatcham on Sunday.
A Book of Condolence will be opened from 9am to 69pm Monday to Friday and will remain open in the foyer of the Town Hall/Corn Exchange until 6pm on the day following the funeral. Floral tributes may be left on the balcony of the Town Hall steps.
